ANGELO GENNARO AMBROSIA
I began creating with my father, Alphonse Ambrosia. He
taught me how to work with wood, making wood toys and
turning bowls on the lathe, also he taught me photography
and black and white processing, dark room techniques and tricks. In high
school I began working with clay learning how to use the wheel making simple
vessels. After high school I went to Prescott, AZ for college. I continued
working in clay shaping my ideas in functional and one of a kind art. I
then moved to Lopez Island off the coast of Washington to continue my education
in life.
I learned how to work hard, build kilns and fireplaces,
working in clay and stone, creating functional designs and buildings. I
experimented in firing techniques and different forms. Then moving
to Santa Fe, New Mexico I continued my studio work in
ceramics. I began producing ceramic art for retail and wholesale. I also
joined a team that was working on public arts in the Santa Fe area, where
I helped in several large projects. After several years at this location
I moved to Longmont, Colorado to find glassblowing.
I have been making
glassware ever since. My studio is now located in the
city of Longmont. My work is available from me directly and
at local galleries.
I believe that quality art, both
functional and sculptural should reflect emotion, creativity, and
craftsmanship. |
